Table Top, 160/80 Paraset.

This rig has a few refinements in that it has a P.A. mA meter fitted. You know when the P.A. is tuned since the meter clearly shows a dip in the P.A. anode current. The rig also has only one light bulb, which indicates antenna current. You will also notice it does not have a transmit receive switch! This little rig has full break-in on cw. This is achieved using the back contact of the morse key to disconnect the audio on transmit....an old fashioned method.....but very good. There are no crashes in the head phones at all and the receiver is connected to the antenna permanently. The transmitted rf blocks the detector which then takes about half a second to recover once you have stopped sending. Two bands are covered, 160M and 80M and if you look closely the receiver dial is calibrated for both bands on its outside edge. There is no stop on the tuning capacitor and so this method can be used.

Something a little unusual about this rig is that it uses two, Red, EF50 valves in the receiver....as it happens it has produced a very stable receiver and thumping the cabinet does not induce any change in frequency at all.
